WHAT IS FMS?

Fundamental Movement Skills (FMS)
is the basis of motion which involves different body parts. It forms the building blocks to help us play sports, live a more active lifestyle and perform our daily activities.
These skills are the building blocks to more specialized and complex skills which one requires to participate in different activities, sports and games.
The skills are divided into 3 main themes:
LOCOMOTOR
OBJECT CONTROL
STABILITY

LOCOMOTOR SKILLS

It consists of the whole body movement by transporting the body in any direction from one location to another.

Locomotor skills include:

  • Walking

  • Running

  • Leaping

  • Jumping

  • Sliding

  • Galloping

  • Hopping

  • Skipping
